Stanley Park Drive is a scenic, one-way loop road that encircles Stanley Park in Vancouver, British Columbia. Most folks will take the Seawall path around the park, but for those looking for some more speed or a bit of a climb (with ice cream & a view for a reward!), Stanley Park Drive offers an alternative. This route is popular as a road cycling training route as well.
Following the park’s coastline, the drive offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, Burrard Inlet, and downtown Vancouver, passing iconic landmarks like the Totem Poles, Brockton Point Lighthouse, and Prospect Point. Originally constructed in the late 19th century as part of the park’s development, it was designed to provide visitors with a leisurely route through the park by horse-drawn carriage and, later, automobiles. Over time, the road has been adapted to accommodate cyclists, pedestrians, and vehicle traffic, with sections periodically restricted to prioritize non-motorized use. Today, Stanley Park Drive remains a popular route for both sightseeing and recreation, serving as a gateway to the park’s rich natural and cultural history.
