an the Philippines still achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030? 🇵🇭
In 2015, the Philippines joined countries around the world in committing to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda. But with less than four years remaining, are we actually on track?
In this episode of Sustainably Ambitious, we look at the latest Philippine SDG data and ask a simple question: Kaya pa ba by 2030?
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority's latest pace-of-progress assessment, only 23.2% of the 99 indicators that could be assessed against nationally determined numerical 2030 targets are currently on track. More than half need faster progress, while around a quarter need their current trends reversed.
But the story isn't simply that the Philippines is “failing.”
We look at where we're making progress—from poverty reduction and employment to basic services—and where major gaps remain, including education, health, disaster resilience and sustainable cities.
More importantly, we ask: What happens if we don't achieve everything by 2030? Does that mean the Sustainable Development Goals failed—or does it tell us what we need to do differently next?
🌱 In this episode: Sustainable Development Goals explained in the Philippine context; Philippines SDG progress toward 2030; poverty and employment; quality education; good health and well-being; sustainable cities and communities; disaster resilience; and what comes after 2030.
