I used to think love sounded like applause , like crowded rooms after a performance, like someone waiting backstage with your name folded softly in their mouth. But heartbreak sounds different. It sounds like the studio after midnight. One speaker still breathing static. One dancer staring into the mirror, trying to remember which version of himself was loved correctly. And now Take It All Back by SASKIA plays, and every movement feels like a confession I was too late to say out loud. We were choreography that almost worked. The chemistry was beautiful, but somewhere between the counts, we stopped hearing the same music. You moved forward. I stayed suspended between eight-counts and silence. So now I dance, because movement understands what words cannot carry. Because every spin feels like searching, every fall feels honest, and every reach of my arm still looks like missing you. Maybe this dance is not about getting you back. Maybe it’s the funeral for the version of me that loved you more than himself. And maybe that’s the cruelest thing about heartbreak: the music ends, but somehow you’re still dancing.
