Heavy rain could produce flooding across Wisconsin late Friday night into Saturday morning. Widespread rainfall totals of 1–3 inches appear possible, with locally higher amounts depending on where the heaviest band develops. Chief Meteorologist Tom Wachs breaks down the newest high-resolution forecast data, including: • When the rain arrives Friday • Where the heaviest band may develop • Why the greatest flood threat may come between 4–7 a.m. Saturday • How much rain Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin could receive • What you can do before the storms arrive Severe thunderstorms are not currently the primary concern—but torrential rainfall could overwhelm storm drains and create areas of flash flooding. If you can do so safely, clear debris from sewer grates, check your sump pump and never drive through a flooded roadway. Forecast updated at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026. Flood watches and forecast details may change as the system approaches.
