To be completely honest, Elche was initially just a brief stopover on my trip through Spain. But I unexpectedly fell completely in love with it. It’s a town of perfect size: neither too big nor too small. The fresh local pomegranates and dates were delicious, and the whole city felt so lush, bathed in date-laden palm trees. Above all, what made Elche so special was its people. Everyone seemed so relaxed, warm, and always ready with a gentle smile. I loved it so much that I actually ended up coming back for a second visit near the end of my trip. When you travel through a country for about a month, visiting city after city, there comes a point where places can start to blur together. You find yourself asking, "Which city was that again?" But what makes a place truly unforgettable is always the people you meet. In that sense, Elche left the deepest impression on me during this journey. It’s a place I genuinely hope to return to. This video starts with a loop around the vibrant Mercat Central d’Elx. From there, we stroll through Plaça de la Glorieta, past the historic Basílica de Santa Maria, into the peaceful palm-filled Parc Municipal, and finally cross the Río Vinalopó. The only shame is that I happened to film this on a slightly overcast Saturday morning before the town fully woke up for lunch, so it might feel a bit quieter than usual.
