Maroon Bells Traverse - Maroon Peak to North Maroon Peak - Aspen, CO - Sept 2026

Sept 20th 2026 Solo climb of the maroon bells traverse from Maroon Peak to North Maroon Peak in Aspen, CO. In my opinion this is the hardest and most dangerous of Gerry Roaches 4 grand traverses. It’s strenuous and requires demanding route finding. The traverse is intense with sustained class 4 and 5 climbing on some of the worst rock in the state at extreme levels of exposure. The potential for rockfall is very high. The descent off Maroon peak and north maroon are both incredibly dangerous with class 3 and 4 terrain. These mountains are steep, rotten, and have claimed the lives of many people giving them the name “the deadly bells”.
