Autumn bikepacking with my Brompton Electric G-Line and folding trailer — extra batteries, 12V cooking and shorter days. I wasn't counting on solar power in the October rain. I wanted to find out how to keep touring comfortably anyway. After a muddy first day and a disrupted train journey, I ended up riding another 37 km, partly after dark. My summer setup had worked well, but autumn required a different approach. I brought additional battery capacity, used small power stations to charge the bike, and relied on 12-volt cooking equipment when cooking outside wasn't particularly inviting. There was enough energy on board. Finding the time to transfer it into the bicycle battery was another matter. The first day brought rain, headwinds, muddy tracks, a former Cold War border crossing and six final kilometers without electric assistance. The following day, an unexpected railway problem gave me another opportunity to ride — and a rather enjoyable one. It turned out that shorter days don't necessarily have to mean shorter rides. *Chapters* 00:00 Autumn Bikepacking Begins 01:17 Charging With Almost No Solar Power 02:16 Headwinds, Mud & the Former Border 03:37 Running Out of Electric Assistance 04:34 Bike Cube Camping & 12V Cooking 05:43 A New Morning 06:23 What Drains the Bike Battery? 06:52 Packing the Trailer for the Train 07:50 When the Train Journey Goes Wrong 08:11 Back on the Bike — Riding After Dark *Equipment on this trip:* Brompton Electric G-Line Folding bicycle trailer Jackery 300D and Bluetti Elite 10 320 W of portable solar panels 12 V cooking equipment An experiment in keeping electric bikepacking comfortable, practical and fun after summer. #BromptonElectric #Bikepacking #EBikeTouring
