I thought I was ready to snowboard Mount Adams. After backpacking Mount Adams the previous summer, I got the chance to come back and climb it in a single day, then snowboard nearly 7,000 feet back toward the trailhead. I had less than two weeks to prepare, so I trained as much as I could and used a splitboarding trip on Mount Rainier as my final warm-up. The climb went better than expected. The Southwest Chutes were a different story. The terrain was steeper, bigger, and more intimidating than anything I'd ridden before, and I quickly realized that being fit enough to climb Mount Adams didn't necessarily mean I was ready to snowboard it. This was a huge learning experience, and I'm already looking forward to coming back with more experience and doing it properly. #MountAdams #Snowboarding #Splitboarding 0:00 Climbing Mount Adams 0:22 Preparing for a Single Day Push 1:17 The Plan for Today 2:06 Pacing for a 10-Hour Climb 4:16 Reaching Lunch Counter Camp 5:29 The Mount Adams Summit Climb 7:11 The Brutal push to Piker's Peak 8:49 An unexpected decision 9:59 The Southwest Chutes 10:31 Dropping in 14:09 The Runout 15:02 The Grueling Trek back to Camp 16:15 Back at Morrison Creek Camp
