The first snow is only days away, and my off grid cabin still doesn’t have a finished roof. With just a few dry days in the forecast, every hour counts—and an unexpected setback on the way back from the sawmill puts me even further behind. In Episode 4, I finish installing the rafters, continue covering the roof, and haul more timber into the woods as I try to protect everything I’ve built before winter arrives. At seventeen, I decided to build a cabin alone in the Scandinavian wilderness and work toward a different way of life. I wanted more freedom, meaningful work, and time to build something I truly care about. This series follows that journey through every mistake, small victory, and unexpected challenge. I’m learning as I go, and there’s still a long way to go before this place becomes the home I imagine. Thank you for following along and sharing your advice and encouragement, it means a lot. Subscribe to follow the next stage of the build. In Episode 5, I’ll be finishing the roof and starting on the walls. If you enjoy cabin building, off grid living, self reliance, woodworking, and life in the Scandinavian wilderness, I hope you’ll feel at home here.
