Origin of Longchen Nyingthig

Longchen Nyingthig, meaning “Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse,” is a core Dzogchen teaching in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. It is believed to trace its roots back to the primordial Buddha and was transmitted through legendary masters like Padmasambhava and Vimalamitra. In the 18th century, the great visionary Jigme Lingpa revealed this complete cycle of teachings in Eastern Tibet, offering direct instructions and practices to help practitioners recognize the innate, luminous nature of their minds.
