Why you wake up exhausted, why sleep and hunger run on the same brain circuit, and what sleep peptides like DSIP and Epitalon actually do. I'm a triple board-certified physician and pathologist, and I went through the published evidence to separate what's proven from what's mostly marketting.
In 2000, researchers found that people with narcolepsy had lost 85 to 95 percent of one tiny population of brain cells. Those cells made a peptide called orexin, and it's what holds you awake right now. The same cells respond to whether you've eaten. On August 5, 2026, the FDA approved a drug built on that discovery. Weeks earlier, a peptide literally named sleep-inducing peptide went before an FDA advisory committee and was turned down. Almost nobody covered it.
