The Islamabad High Court's larger bench, headed by Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar, heard the case against the PTI September 27 protest and long march. During the hearing, the KP Advocate General challenged the jurisdiction of the Islamabad High Court and argued that the court cannot issue directions to officials in other provinces. The hearing became particularly intense when the court questioned Sohail Afridi's role as Chief Minister and his support for the September 27 protest and Islamabad long march. Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar questioned how a Chief Minister who has taken an oath to remain loyal to the state could announce a march toward Islamabad. The hearing also produced a major Article 6 controversy, with the Chief Justice asking whether Article 6 could become relevant if a Chief Executive gives orders to subordinate authorities that violate his oath. At the same time, the KP government argued that Sohail Afridi is both Chief Minister and a political party member, and that protests are conducted by political parties rather than provincial governments. The court has also sought affidavits from the KP Chief Secretary and Inspector General in connection with the September 27 protest. Meanwhile, a separate petition seeking the disqualification of Sohail Afridi has been scheduled for hearing before the Federal Constitutional Court on September 14. The petition, filed by Sher Afzal Marwat, reportedly challenges Afridi's eligibility on the basis of his nomination as Chief Minister by Imran Khan, who is a convicted person.
