James or Peter (I Surrender All)

Inspired by Acts 12, this song highlights the contrasting journeys of the apostles James and Peter. While James was martyred by King Herod, Peter experienced a miraculous escape from the very same hands. Ultimately, the song serves as a powerful call to surrender fully to God’s perfect will — trusting Him completely, whether our story resembles James's or Peter's. Acts 12:1-3, 11 (ESV) About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church. He killed James the brother of John with the sword, and when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also... When Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.” Lyrics [Verse 1] James and Peter, two of the three One died, and one was set free Two different fates in Herod's hands God's ways I can't understand [Chorus] All to Jesus I surrender I surrender all To Jesus my Lord I surrender all [Verse 2] James or Peter, who will I be? I know, it's not up to me I lift my hands and find God's grace Calling me to seek His face [Chorus] All to Jesus I surrender I surrender all To Jesus my Lord I surrender all [Bridge] If I live, I live to the Lord If I die, I die to the Lord So whether alive or at rest I'm in the hands that know what's best [Chorus] All to Jesus I surrender I surrender all To Jesus my Lord I surrender all [Final Chorus] All to Jesus I surrender I surrender all To Jesus my Lord I surrender all To Jesus my Lord I surrender all "James or Peter (I Surrender All)" Songwriter / Lyrics: Soh Jo Chih Music / Instrumentation: Created with Suno AI Many thanks to Bernice Loh for her feedback and suggestions.
