I Tried Aldi’s Mini Baguette Kit—Is It Actually Worth It? @DanisKitchenStories
Have you ever spotted Aldi’s bread baking kit and wondered whether it can really help you make fresh, homemade bread with less effort? Today, I’m unboxing and testing this budget-friendly Aldi bread baking set, which includes a mini-French baguette silicone kit, a silicone breadbasket kit, and a recipe book with baking ideas. Now, let’s open the box and find out whether Aldi’s mini-French baguette and silicone breadbasket kits are worth buying!
Mini French Baguette Recipe
Ingredients
• 3 1/4 cups of bread flour or all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon instant yeast
• 1 tablespoon salt
• 2 cups warm water, about 105–110°F
• flour for dusting and water for brushing
Directions
1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, and salt.
2. Add warm water. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
3. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Add flour sparingly if the dough is very sticky.
4. Place the dough in a lightly dusted with flour bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
5. Gently deflate the dough and divide it into portions that fit the mini-French baguette silicone mold. Shape each portion into a short, narrow loaf and place it seam-side down in the mold.
6. Cover loosely and let the shaped baguettes rise for 30–45 minutes, until puffy. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 450°F.
7. Lightly dust the tops with flour, if desired, and make one or two or three shallow diagonal slashes in each loaf. Brush or mist with a little water for a crisper crust.
8. Place the silicone mold on a sturdy baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the baguettes are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped. Follow the kit manufacturer’s heat and placement instructions.
9. Cool on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
