While the machine's two-tone paint job (gunmetal gray and pearlescent candy orange) grabs attention externally, the real magic lies beneath the hood. I designed and built a custom adapter to fit a 68010 DIP processor into the A600 connecting over the PLCC processor, improving compatibility and performance for WHDLoad and select games. Additionally, I created a custom ROM switcher with cleverly mounted switches repurposing the PCMCIA slot—avoiding permanent modifications to the case. This build combines ingenuity with practicality, and I share insights into PCB design, assembly tips, and the challenges of making everything fit perfectly inside the compact A600 case.
