The Ground Still Speaks (Genesis 4) | Bible Story Hip Hop Some things you can bury. A voice is not one of them. Two brothers bring God an offering, and when God looks with favor on Abel and his gift, Cain's face falls. God warns him that sin is crouching at his door, but Cain turns toward his brother instead, and Abel's blood cries out from the ground. Cain walks east as a marked man, guarded even under judgment. The song turns the mirror on a recital hall, where a man smiles when his brother's voice cracks, then points to Jesus, whose blood speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. At the end, the one who smiled starts the applause. One verdigris dot is Cain, and through him the one telling the story; his brother is a small apricot dot. Everything on screen is made from dots, rings and lines: the ground is a row of dots that plays the song note by note, and on every clap of the hook a ring rises out of it. God and Jesus appear only as light. Every lyric is on screen. Scripture on screen, word for word from the Berean Standard Bible (BSB): Genesis 4:7, Genesis 4:8, Genesis 4:9, Genesis 4:10, Genesis 4:14, Luke 23:34, and the words "speaks a better word than the blood of Abel" from Hebrews 12:24 Chapters 0:00 Same patch of ground 0:25 Same mother bore them 0:37 Cain brings field fruit 0:54 God calls into the scowl 1:04 Blood has a voice 1:16 Let us go out to the field 1:32 Where is your brother Abel? 1:42 Blood has a voice, again 1:53 Plow point bites 2:05 Recital hall 2:16 One crack 2:28 God sets a mark 2:45 Jesus in the shouting 2:56 Father, forgive them 3:08 I bring Him the hate 3:30 I start the applause Lyrics Same patch of ground. Two sets of feet. Yeah, yeah. Same mother bore them. Same exile behind them. Same dust in the daylight, two shadows beside them. Cain cuts furrows, sunburn, grit in the creases. Abel walks the ridgeline, counting when the sheep bleat. Cain brings field fruit. Abel brings the firstborn, Best portions of the flock, by faith before the Lord. God looks with favor on Abel and his gift. Cain's face falls. Watch the neck go stiff. His brother stands beside him. Cain stares past his face. Watches Abel breathe like every breath takes up his place. God calls into the scowl while the field still lies ahead: sin is crouching at your door but you must master it. Cain turns toward his brother instead. Blood has a voice. Dirt has a mouth. Still speaking. Can't, can't shut it out. Uh, let us go out to the field. Two sets of footsteps where the turned earth yields. Then an arm lifts. A brother drops. One shout. Stalks shake. Then the birds start up. Cain stands breathing. Abel doesn't. Red sinks into the land he trusted. Where is your brother Abel? I do not know! Am I my brother's keeper? God answers: The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground. Blood has a voice. Dirt has a mouth. Still speaking. Can't, can't shut it out. Plow point bites. The soil won't answer. The man who worked the land becomes a wanderer. No crop to shoulder home. No brother at his side. Two shadows crossed the field. One walks out alive. Recital hall. My brother. The room holds its breath. I sang that song last spring; I cracked the note he hits next. He draws a breath. Chin up. I lean forward in my seat. His voice climbs past the place where mine went weak. One crack. My smile arrives before he gets the next word back. Cain hears a death threat in the feet upon the road. whoever finds me will kill me. God sets a mark on the man who spilled it. A warning to the next hand itching to kill him. The field stays closed. He walks beneath the sentence. A marked man breathing, guarded from vengeance. One set of footsteps on the road out east. No brother's voice behind him. Just the gravel underneath. Jesus in the shouting. The innocent surrounded. Spit dries on His cheek while the iron gets pounded. Then the blood of the righteous runs into the dust. From the mouth they are mocking, a prayer rises up: Father, forgive them Even while the blood falls. Dead. Laid down. The rock shut tight. Then risen. Still wounded. Back into the light. His blood speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. I bring Him the hate. No brother to blame. I trust in His blood. I have no other claim. Blood has a voice. Dirt has a mouth. Still speaking. Can't, can't shut it out. I start the applause. #AtomicBible #BibleHipHop #Genesis
