Daily Mass Readings and Gospel Reflection for Friday, October 30, 2026 | Friday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus heals a man suffering from dropsy while dining at the home of a leading Pharisee on the Sabbath. When He asks whether it is lawful to heal on the Sabbath, those present remain silent. Through this encounter, Jesus reveals that God's Law must never become an excuse for indifference to human suffering, but must be understood and lived in the light of truth, justice, and mercy. In the first reading from Saint Paul’s Letter to the Philippians, we discover a beautiful connection: Paul prays that Christian love may grow in knowledge and discernment, enabling believers to recognize what is truly excellent. This reflection invites us to unite faithfulness to God's commandments with genuine compassion, allowing wisdom and charity to guide our decisions. Nourished by God's grace, we are called to recognize the needs of others, act with humility, and bear the fruit of righteousness through Jesus Christ.
