I Went to America’s Second Division to See What I Was Missing

What is American soccer’s second division actually like? I headed to Colorado Springs to watch the Switchbacks and experience the USL Championship for myself. I wanted to see what exists below MLS — the stadium, the supporters, the atmosphere, and whether USL offers a different version of soccer culture in America. As someone who grew up around European soccer but has spent my life as a soccer fan in the United States, that’s really what Not European Enough is about: exploring American soccer culture as it continues to grow and figuring out where I fit into it. This was my first real look at the USL. Here’s what I found.
