75 BURG DAY 12: Avani at Fred 62

75 burgers. 75 days. 75 guests. DAY 12 with Avani Khorana at Fred 62. Avani doesn’t eat beef, so for my first veggie burger of 75 Burg, I figured she was the right person to bring along. She leads community at Verci LA, helping build a 24/7 home base for artists, founders, musicians, designers, and anybody curious enough to be making something. We talked about going from a Verci intern in New York to helping build its first LA space from the ground up, why she used to think she wasn’t creative, building events that make people feel like kids again, and how bringing people together became its own art form for her. We also got into what she’s making when nobody else is involved — writing, researching, designing, painting — and what she eventually wants to build for herself.
