Leaving the idyllic Colombian town of Florián and the breathtaking "Ventanas del Tisquizoque" behind, Miguel and I hit the road early in the morning for the final leg of our journey together. Today our paths diverge: Miguel heads back home to Villa de Leyva, while my journey continues all the way north to the Caribbean coast in Santa Marta. We say our goodbyes in Barbosa, but what I assumed would be a routine, relaxed ride quickly turns into an unpredictable adventure. Slick, muddy construction zones demand total focus and careful riding. After tackling tough road conditions and leaving the cool mountain air for the scorching tropical heat of the lowlands, unexpected delays throw a wrench in the plan.
