On August 31, 1991, Fred Parris and the Satins headlined the Lead East concert at the Sheraton Meadowlands Ballroom in East Rutherford, New Jersey. In this performance, composer and original lead singer Fred Parris (1936-2023) introduces and performs the group’s signature hit, “In the Still of the Nite” with his group. First tenor Richard “Dick” Arnold (1939-2006) was an original member of the Ballads who recorded for Franwill Records in 1956. He also recorded as a solo artist for Franwill and Ron-Cris in the early 1960s. He first recorded with the Five Satins as lead singer on their 1964 Sammy label release, “No One Knows”. Second tenor Richard Bogan (1945-2005) joined the Satins in 1983 and performed with Parris throughout the 1990s. Baritone-bass Anthony Rogers (1951-1993), who also plays bass guitar, was seated in this performance due to illness. He passed away 21 months later at age 41. The event was produced and hosted by United in Group Harmony Association President Ronnie Italiano (1941-2008). The footage has been transferred from an original 1990s VHS cassette with the audio remixed and synchronized to the video.
