“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” — James 1:4 KJV Build stronger legs and glutes, burn calories and improve your endurance with this 40-minute strength and cardio workout for women over 50! Today’s Workout Worship session includes 20 minutes of lower-body dumbbell strength training followed by 20 minutes of cardio. Workout Warriors, welcome to Bonus Week! We call this Bonus Week because some months contain more than four complete workout weeks. Instead of stopping simply because our four-week calendar ended—or changing programs in the middle of a week—we continue performing the month’s workouts until the new workout week begins. This is more than an extra workout. It demonstrates what patience and consistency have produced in us. James tells us to let patience complete its work. We cannot rush growth, and we should not interrupt the process simply because the calendar changed. When we remain consistent, our bodies learn the movements, our form improves, our endurance increases and we become capable of handling a greater challenge. The exercises may be familiar, but we are not the same women who performed them at the beginning of September. We are stronger, steadier and more confident because we stayed with the work! 20-MINUTE LOWER-BODY STRENGTH WORKOUT: 1. Heels-Elevated Goblet Squat 2. Staggered-Stance Romanian Deadlift 3. Reverse Lunge to Knee Drive 4. Sumo Squat With Two Bottom Pulses 5. Heels-Elevated Squat Hold and Pulses — hold for 40 seconds, then pulse for 20 seconds STRENGTH FORMAT: • 60 seconds of work • 10 seconds of rest • 3 sets for exercises that train both sides together • 2 sets on each side for unilateral exercises • Slow, controlled repetitions 20-MINUTE CARDIO: After strength training, complete 20 minutes of cardio at an intensity appropriate for your fitness level. Walk outdoors, use a treadmill or walking pad, ride a stationary bike or choose another form of low-impact cardio that keeps you moving and challenges your endurance. EQUIPMENT: • One heavy dumbbell • A pair of moderate dumbbells • Weight plates, a wedge or another firm heel elevation • Optional chair or wall for balance • Cardio equipment or room to walk • Water YOUR BONUS-WEEK CHALLENGE: Choose one way to demonstrate your progress: • Use a slightly heavier weight • Complete more controlled repetitions • Improve your balance • Slow down the lowering portion • Increase your comfortable range of motion • Hold the final squat position without standing early • Increase your cardio pace or resistance safely Progress does not require recklessness. If your knees, back or balance need support, reduce the weight, shorten your range of motion, remove the heel elevation or use a chair. During cardio, slow your pace whenever necessary. Our bodies adapt through consistent, appropriate challenges—not punishment. We make adjustments, not excuses! Comment “STRONGER THAN WEEK 1” when you complete all 40 minutes! If you are new here, subscribe and join the Workout Warriors for strength training, cardio and faith-filled fitness created especially for women over 40 and 50. We gave patience permission to complete its work. The calendar may be changing, but we are still showing up!
