“The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.” — Habakkuk 3:19 KJV
Build muscle, burn calories and improve your cardiovascular endurance with this 40-minute strength and cardio workout for women over 50!
Workout Warriors, welcome to Thursday Workout Worship! Today’s workout combines 20 minutes of upper-body dumbbell strength training with 20 minutes of fat-burning cardio.
But before we pick up our weights, we remember where our strength comes from.
Habakkuk did not write these words because everything around him was easy. He chose to trust God while facing difficult circumstances. He declared that the Lord was his strength and that God would give him steady feet to keep moving forward.
That is our mindset today. We may feel tired. The weights may feel heavy. Our bodies may want to slow down. But God will strengthen us, steady us and help us complete the work in front of us.
We are strengthening our chest, shoulders and triceps, then finishing with cardio to challenge our endurance, support heart health and increase our total movement for the day.
EQUIPMENT:
• Moderate and heavy dumbbells
• Exercise mat
• Optional bench
• Cardio equipment or room to walk
• Water
20-MINUTE STRENGTH WORKOUT:
1. Dumbbell Skull Crushers
2. Single-Arm Tate Press — two sets on each arm
3. Dumbbell Shoulder Press
4. Standing Underhand Dumbbell Chest Raise
5. Dumbbell Chest Press
STRENGTH FORMAT:
• 60 seconds of work
• 10 seconds of rest
• 3 sets for exercises that train both sides together
• 2 sets on each side for unilateral exercises
• Slow, controlled repetitions
20-MINUTE CARDIO:
Follow the strength workout with 20 minutes of cardio at an intensity appropriate for your fitness level. Walk, use a treadmill, ride a stationary bike or choose another form of low-impact cardio that keeps you moving.
ADJUSTMENTS:
• Use lighter weights when necessary
• Perform presses with a neutral grip for shoulder comfort
• Reduce your range of motion
• Slow your cardio pace
• Take additional rest when needed
Pushing yourself does not mean ignoring pain. Stop if you experience sharp or unusual pain and choose a safe adjustment. We make adjustments—not excuses!
This workout is designed for women over 40 and 50 who want to become stronger, improve their fitness and support healthy weight loss without jumping or complicated choreography.
Comment “THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH” when you finish all 40 minutes!
