NAIJA ECO VIBES PODCAST S2| 20 Years of Walk for Nature: The Journey, the Impact and the Future Ep 8

Twenty years of walking for nature. Two decades of environmental advocacy. One urgent question: Where do we go from here? In this special episode of the Naija Eco Vibes Podcast, we celebrate 20 years of Walk for Nature, the Nigerian Conservation Foundation’s (NCF) flagship environmental advocacy initiative that has brought together individuals, young people, businesses, government and civil society to champion environmental protection in Nigeria. Our guests, Mr. Tunde Ojei, Country Director of the International Rescue Committee, Nigeria Country Office, and Mr. Desmond Majekodunmi, Member of NCF’s National Executive Council who are both fundamental to the evolution of the Walk , join us for a reflective conversation about the origins and evolution of Walk for Nature, the environmental challenges that inspired collective action, and the role public campaigns play in shaping environmental awareness and behaviour. In this episode, we explore: The journey: What inspired Walk for Nature, and how has it evolved over two decades? From awareness to action: Can environmental advocacy influence how Nigerians think and act? Youth and climate action: What role should young Nigerians play in protecting nature and building a sustainable future? The road ahead: What must individuals, institutions and communities do to make environmental protection a shared responsibility? As we look towards the 20th edition of Walk for Nature, themed “Inspired for Climate Action,” this conversation reminds us that environmental advocacy is a continuing commitment. Protecting forests, restoring ecosystems, influencing policies and making sustainable choices all matter.
