THE HYMN BENEATH THE DROWNED MOON
*“The Hymn Beneath the Drowned Moon”* is a slow, rhythmic fantasy hymn built around memory, the sea, devotion, and the ancient stories of a people who carry their history through song.
At its heart is **Vaelorun — Grandfather**: not simply a figure from the past, but a presence woven into remembrance, ritual, survival, and the way the Nyrakai understand themselves beneath the light of the Drowned Moon.
The song reaches back through some of their oldest stories: *the First Catching, Thaal’Azhor, Vael’Tharuun, the First Wrapping, the First Bowl, the Nautilus, Selene, the Veiling, and the Drowned Sky.*
These aren’t treated as disconnected legends. They are pieces of one inherited memory.
The hymn is about what remains after suffering.
It is about wounds that are remembered without allowing those wounds to become the only thing a people are.
It is about healing without forgetting.
It is about returning changed.
And above all, it is about the quiet belief that even beneath an impossible sea, underneath ancient ruins, drowned heavens, and generations of history…
*Grandfather listens.*
Musically, the song was designed as a *soft, slow fantasy hymn**, moving at roughly **72 BPM* with a steady, ceremonial rhythm rather than a huge theatrical build. The goal was for it to feel like something that could actually be sung collectively — beside dark water, beneath moonlight, during remembrance, mourning, reunion, or ritual.
There is no endless fade and no unresolved ending.
The hymn reaches its final words and stops with purpose:

A lot of my music is built around more than just a genre. I like creating songs that feel as though they belong *inside a world* — hymns people might actually sing, songs tied to fictional religions and histories, character pieces, psychedelic experiments, emotional ballads, fantasy music, cyberpunk stories, strange comedy, darker concepts, and whatever else comes out of the worlds I’m building.
