The power of showing up with Bill Boesterd

M2W2 Volunteer Story Longtime M2W2 volunteer Bill Boesterd reflects on about 35 years of visiting inmates since first joining M2W2 in 1991. He explains why he continues to come alongside incarcerated men who are often lonely and feel unlovable, describing visits across multiple institutions and the hope of seeing people reintegrate successfully, including one man he journeyed with for over 20 years who is now thriving. He discusses learning to be both gentle and bold in faith, asking permission to pray, listening well, and showing consistent love. He highlights M2W2’s faith-based identity, volunteer needs, NOLA and thrift-store opportunities, COVID challenges, and the importance of helping inmates and their families know they matter. 00:00 Meet the Volunteer 00:34 Why Prison Ministry Matters 02:02 Success Stories and Hope 02:27 Where He Serves Now 03:01 Faith and God Stories 04:00 How to Love Well Inside 06:08 NOLA and Getting Started 06:37 M2W2 Values and Resilience 07:55 Who Can Volunteer 08:28 35 Years of Growth 10:40 Father Figures and Mentorship 11:46 Future Vision and Invitation 14:22 Thrift Stores and Support 14:48 Closing Hopes for M2W2
