Peter has just called Jesus the Christ, and minutes later he's telling Jesus no, trying to talk him out of the cross. Jesus turns and calls him Satan for it. Bishop Dag reads the whole exchange in Matthew 16 and makes the point that opposition to a God-given sacrifice often comes wrapped in familiar, reasonable-sounding words from someone close to you. He then tells his own story: training to become a heart surgeon, then feeling called to pastor a small group in Ghana instead, while his in-laws pushed back and tried to get him transferred rather than let him walk away from medicine. His point is simple - the fiercest resistance to your calling rarely comes from strangers.
