Ratnagiricha Bibtya | A Film on Leopard–Human Coexistence in Ratnagiri

Ratnagiricha Bibtya is an awareness film exploring the shared landscape of leopards and people in Ratnagiri. Through the voices and experiences of local communities, the film presents how people perceive leopards—and invites us to look at the landscape from the leopard’s perspective too. The film highlights the importance of coexistence, responsible behaviour, and informed responses when encountering leopards or other wildlife. It explains essential do’s and don’ts during a wildlife encounter, the role of the Forest Department in rescue and conflict response, and the process and importance of compensation for livestock losses caused by wildlife. Rather than portraying the leopard only as a threat, Ratnagiricha Bibtya encourages viewers to understand the species as a part of Ratnagiri’s natural landscape and to build safer, more informed coexistence between people and wildlife.
