Red Rattlers around the Eastern Suburbs - Tait's Mainline Testing

On the 1st August 2021 Melbourne's recently restored vintage Tait electric train made their fourth mainline test around the city. This time the train visited Melbourne's eastern suburbs along the Alamein, Belgrave, Glen Waverley and Lilydale lines, plus a visit along the Upfield line. In this video we see the Tait's around the suburbs throughout the day, visiting numerous locations including Seddon, Burwood, Lilydale, Tecoma, Laburnum, Brunswick and Jewell. The Tait's, often nicknamed the 'Red Rattlers' were built between 1910 - 1952, originally as steam-hauled suburban carriages. They then became among Melbourne's first electric train when they were converted into electric multiple units when electrification of the rail network began in 1919.
