Lessons Learned in the Sandhills

Across the Nebraska Sandhills, producers are confronting the same challenge: eastern red cedar is overtaking grazing land faster than traditional methods can control it. Families who once planted cedars now find themselves cutting, shearing, piling, and still falling behind. This video brings together the voices of ranchers who shifted from mechanical clearing to prescribed fire — and saw dramatic improvements in grass production, plant density, and drought resilience. Pastures that were nearly unusable just a few years ago are now carrying cattle earlier and longer than unburned acres. #PrescribedBurn #CedarEncroachment #GrasslandRestoration To learn more about the Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition and The Nebraska Grassland Alliance please visit us online. https://nebraskagrazinglands.org/ https://nebraskasgrasslands.org/
