The newborn squabs come out pink, eyes closed, almost no feathers, and they cannot eat anything on their own. Everything depends on the pigeon parents. Both the mother and the father make crop milk and feed it to the babies many times a day. You can see it clearly at 4:18 and 4:46. In pigeon farming, this is why healthy pigeon parents matter so much. Week by week the babies grow pin feathers, then grey and white feathers, and the nest gets crowded. Every nest is checked by hand, fallen babies are put back, and the nest mats are kept clean, a small daily job in pigeon farming.
