Incrível mesmo como este hotel trata os motards ----------------------------------------------------- Drone footage over Mont-Dore opens a day of riding that began in unforgettable fashion. The town sits deep in the upper Dordogne valley, surrounded by the volcanic mountains of the Sancy massif. A few kilometres later, Lac de Guéry revealed an equally extraordinary landscape: high pastures, dormant volcanoes and Puy de Sancy on the horizon. The drone also showed the scale of Puy de la Tache and Puy de Monne before I reached the striking Roches Tuilière and Sanadoire. After the Col de Guéry, the ride became more about getting from one place to the next than discovering new scenery. There were still beautiful roads, valleys and mountains along the way, but I filmed very little; not every kilometre needs to compete with the ones before it. Sometimes they simply take us to the next place, and they are part of the journey too. The most curious moment came in the Fréjus Tunnel. I entered in France and, without even seeing a border line on the tarmac, came out in Italy. It is strange to think that, for a few kilometres, you are crossing a mountain and changing countries at the same time. Near Susa, the sky decided to join the ride. The final twenty kilometres were wet ones, but that did not take away the satisfaction of parking the bike at Hotel Napoleon Susa. After such a full day, that entrance into the hotel grounds felt almost triumphant — although with less fanfare and more raindrops running down my helmet.
