The dark matter collision in this month's headlines was recorded in June 2023, inside data the team had already said showed no sign of dark matter. Now more than 700 days of newer data could settle it, and the team has sealed that data and chosen not to look yet. LUX-ZEPLIN sits almost a mile under South Dakota with 10 tonnes of liquid xenon. We go through the single event at 248 keV that no known background explains, why the 2024 search missed it, why this analysis wasn't done blind, and why the team keeps saying it isn't claiming a discovery. At 2.6 sigma, roughly a 1 in 200 chance from known backgrounds, it's far short of the five sigma physicists need. We also look at the higgsino idea theorists posted by the next morning, a proposed link to NASA's Fermi gamma-ray data, Tomonori Totani's 2025 dark matter halo claim and why the two don't line up, the XENON1T signal that turned out to be tritium, and what XENONnT and PandaX could find in the coming months. The Fermi connection is a proposal, not a measurement, and we treat it that way.
