This presentation was given at the INCOSE International Symposium 2025 in Ottawa, Canada. It explores the integration of System Dynamics (SD) and Systems Modelling Language (SysML) to strengthen resilient system design. While SD provides powerful capabilities for capturing feedback loops, delays, and emergent behaviours, SysML offers a standardized framework for model-based systems engineering (MBSE) that emphasizes structure, traceability, and communication across stakeholders. The session demonstrates how combining these complementary approaches can enhance the ability to anticipate risks, evaluate design trade-offs, and adapt to dynamic operating environments. Practical examples illustrate how feedback-driven insights from SD can be embedded into SysML models to support iterative design, enabling systems to better withstand disruptions and recover effectively. The presentation concludes by highlighting the methodological and practical benefits of a dual modelling approach, including improved stakeholder alignment, decision support, and the creation of more robust and resilient engineered systems.
