A Giant Crane and Norwegian Rock - What Is This Ship Doing?

An unusual visitor arrives at Workington! Grane R has travelled from Rekefjord in Norway carrying rock for Robin Rigg offshore wind farm, with a brief stop at the port for a crew change. This 93-metre specialist rock installation vessel uses a telescopic fall pipe to place rock accurately on the seabed. Her work at Robin Rigg involves laying protective rock around turbine B5 to help protect underwater fittings from wear and damage. Watch Grane R enter Workington harbour, come alongside the North Pier for the crew change, and head back out to sea to continue her offshore work.
