The month of Elul is a special time in the Jewish calendar — a time of spiritual closeness, repentance, reflection, and preparation for the High Holidays. This film presents the well-known parable of “The King in the Field,” taught by Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, known as the Alter Rebbe — author of the Tanya and Shulchan Aruch HaRav, and founder of Chabad Chassidism. The parable explains the unique spiritual opportunity of Elul: a time when the King, as it were, leaves the palace and comes out to the field, becoming closer and more accessible to every person.
