Watch next: Back Roads to the Garden Route — more of our South African road-trip adventures:    • Back Roads to the Garden Route Our Epic SA...   In the second leg of our 2000 KM journey from Pretoria to Mossel Bay, things get personal and very adventurous! Join us as we leave the Jacarandas behind and dive deep into the heart of the Western Cape. This episode is a nostalgic rollercoaster. We revisit our childhood roots in Yzerfontein before picking up my parents for a true family road trip experience. From the iconic views of Table Mountain at Bloubergstrand to the rugged, wind-swept gravel roads of the Overberg, every kilometer tells a story. In this episode: A Trip Down Memory Lane: Exploring the "Snail Town" of Yzerfontein and our old beach house. The Southernmost Point: Standing at the official meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans in L’Agulhas. Wildlife Encounters: Meeting the famous "Parrie" stingrays of Struisbaai and a very rare appearance by a Cape Clawless Otter! Mixed Emotions: Witnessing the reality of the local fishing industry at the docks. The Malgas Ferry: Crossing the mighty Breede River on the legendary motorized pont. Family Fun: A sunset sprint race at the harbour that you have to see to believe! Whether it's the smooth pebbles of Suiderstrand or the fresh calamari at the famous Arniston Hotel, this leg reminded us why we love the "slow road."
