Tristan Zaba - Meanwhile & After Words

Meanwhile & After Words was written for Trio Immersio as part of the 2021 ICEBERG Institute, a composition program organized by New York's ICEBERG New Music. It was inspired by a feeling I noticed while going about my day during the third wave of Covid-19. In contrast to the early days of the pandemic, marked for me and I believe many others by mental overactivity, this piece is rooted in a later stillness in the wake of seemingly nothing having been left unsaid. This video is from the work's live premiere on May 22, 2026 at the MusCan conference in Winnipeg, and is performed by violinist Elation Pauls, cellist Elie Boissinot, and pianist Maddy Hildebrand.
