What if the most powerful marketing tool your school has is the experience it provides every day?
In this episode of /take note/, Jeremy Hall, VP of Education for MISDA, talks with Girlie Aguilar, Associate Superintendent for MISDA, about marketing that begins with who we are and what we believe. Fliers, publications, techniques, and training have their place. But a teacher’s passion for the difference Adventist education can make in a child’s life gives those efforts substance. That conviction comes through in small, intentional actions, everyday conversations, and a school experience families want to share with others.
Girlie reflects on the humbling experience of watching enrollment decline during her second year as principal—and how “Let Go and Let God” became her motto. She shares how shifting her focus from her own plans to God’s leading changed her approach. The school eventually grew enough for her to serve as a full-time principal, with opportunities to pursue fundraising and development.
We also explore the importance of a thoughtful admissions process, discerning whether a school and student are a good fit, and making difficult enrollment decisions. Our conversation considers how exit interviews can help schools learn why families leave, maintain meaningful connections, and sometimes open the door for their return.
Girlie is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at Andrews University’s Seminary, with dissertation research focused on collaboration between churches and schools.
Join us for a conversation about faith, intentionality, and the everyday work of building a school community worth sharing.
