【指尖上的传承】Heritage on Fingertips-Episode Five :Gold Lacquered Wood Carving

Gold lacquered wood carving has a history of more than one thousand years. According to historical document, “Gold lacquered wood carving of Chaoyang began in Tang Dynasty and thrived in Song Dynasty.” It embodies good wishes and pursuit of happiness by using patterns like figure, plant and animal and homophonic Chinese characters of auspicious meaning. By way of on-site shooting, scene reconstruction and animation, the documentary shows the whole process of how to use graver as pen and wood as paper to carefully carve for thousands of times based on ingenious design, to lacquer the handiwork, to paste gold on it and finally make it an splendid, magnificent and brilliant piece of art. Distinct Lingnan culture and unique regional customs are thus fully displayed.
