Dominican Foods Most Americans Never Think to Order

When most people think about Dominican food, they probably think about mangú, rice and beans, pollo guisado, or maybe some fried plantains. But Dominican cuisine goes a whole lot deeper than that. In this video, I’m talking about some of the Dominican foods that many Americans and tourists probably wouldn't think to order, and a few might have you asking, “Would I actually eat that?” 😂 We’re getting into dishes like mondongo, sancocho, quipe, chivo guisado, yaniqueque, habichuelas con dulce, pastelón de plátano maduro, locrio de chuleta, and more. After living in the Dominican Republic, one thing I've learned is that if you only eat the foods you're already comfortable with, you're missing a huge part of the culture. Food tells you something about a country, its history, its people, and the way families come together.
