I took a break from exploring Yellowstone National Park to check out the hills above the town of Gardiner, Montana - which is right outside the north entrance to Yellowstone. One dirt road takes you up the hill above Gardiner to the community of Jardine, Montana, a former gold-mining boom town. Jardine Road splits off to Travertine Road, and both offer some great views looking south towards Yellowstone National Park and Gardiner, Montana.
Here's what Wikipedia says about Jardine:
Jardine is an unincorporated village in Park County, Montana, United States. The town lies just to the north of Gardiner on inactive travertine terraces, much like those at Mammoth Hot Springs in nearby Yellowstone National Park. The town's chief industry was a gold mine. The community has the name of A. C. Jardine, a businessperson in the mining industry.

I made this trip in April 2021.
