Japa. To flee. To escape. To get out. In one mouth it means ambition. In another, betrayal. I am not going to tell you whether to go - but I want to put three people from scripture next to that word, because the Bible has more to say about leaving than we usually let it. Abraham left and it was obedience. Ruth left and it was loyalty - a step down, taken on purpose, for somebody else. And the exiles in Babylon did not choose to leave at all, yet were told to build houses, plant gardens, and seek the welfare of the city that took them. We put the last line of that letter on a mug and left the rest of it in Babylon. Scripture: Genesis 12:1-5 - Ruth 1:16-17 - Jeremiah 29:4-11 If this made you want to read Jeremiah 29 from verse 4 instead of verse 11, subscribe - new think about it episodes every week.
