History Capsule Episode #04 – Part 1 This episode explores the extraordinary life of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (Bacha Khan) — also known as the Frontier Gandhi — a towering Pashtun leader who chose non-violence in a land of warriors, education over ignorance, and reform over revenge. Born in 1890 in Charsadda, Bacha Khan devoted his entire life to uplifting Pashtun society through education, social reform and peaceful resistance against British colonial rule. While armed rebellion was common in the region, he shocked both the British and his own people by preaching patience, truth and discipline. In this first part, we trace: His family background and early education The influence of religious leaders and tribal traditions Why he rejected a prestigious commission in the British Army His struggle against backward religious clerics Establishment of schools and social reform movements Formation of Anjuman-e-Islah-ul-Afaghina His early arrests and confrontations with the British Alliance with Mahatma Gandhi and Indian National Congress Birth of the legendary Khudai Khidmatgar Movement How he turned violent Pashtun society towards non-violence British repression, repeated imprisonments and sacrifices The famous Qissa Khwani Bazaar massacre His philosophy of peaceful resistance inspired by Islam This is Part 1 of Bacha Khan’s story. In Part 2, we will cover: Partition of India His opposition to Pakistan’s creation Referendum controversy Arrests in Pakistan Exile, house arrest and political isolation His final years and legacy This documentary-style narrative is based on verified historical sources, political records and contemporary accounts. 🎬 Series Info Produced by: Habib Akram Series: History Capsule Episode: #04 (Part 1) Channel: Habib Akram (@HabibAkramPak) 💬 Comment Section After watching Bacha Khan’s story, tell us: Was non-violence possible in tribal society?
