Early autumn has arrived in Edmonton. As the seasons change, I find myself thinking about the things that have changed in my life, and the things that have remained the same. After more than 30 years of living abroad, I have come to appreciate the comfort of ordinary days. Perhaps there is something to be said for a life that does not change too much, even if I sometimes wonder whether that is wisdom or simply getting used to being comfortable. The girls seem perfectly happy with their everyday routine. I sometimes wonder whether I am giving them a life they can truly enjoy. There are probably no clear answers to these things. Maybe there is no need for them.
