What does it really mean to accept what is happening during divorce, especially when what is happening is nothing like the life you planned? In this episode of Dishing on Divorce, Mandy and Deanna sit down with Lindy Yoshida and Erin Siegel, two professionals who bring powerful and complementary perspectives to the divorce process. Lindy is a divorce financial professional, certified life coach, and grief educator who helps clients understand what is financially true while making space for the very real grief that can affect decision-making. Erin is a professional certified coach and high-conflict divorce coach specializing in coercive control, family court navigation, complex custody litigation, and post-separation abuse. Together, they explore radical acceptance and why accepting your current reality does not mean approving of what happened, excusing someone else's behavior, or giving up. They discuss: • Why we fight against a reality we never wanted • The relationship between acceptance and accountability • How grief can affect financial and emotional decision-making • Why wanting to be "right" can sometimes keep us stuck • Acceptance in high-conflict and coercive control situations • How to stop focusing on what someone else should do differently • The importance of allowing grief to be witnessed • Choosing who you want to be when life gets hard • How parents can model resilience, accountability, and healthy change for their children • Why pain is inevitable, and adding suffering through "should have" and "could have" thinking doesn't have to be This conversation is a powerful reminder that moving forward does not require pretending something didn't hurt. It begins with acknowledging what is true, giving yourself space to feel it, and deciding where you want to place your energy next. Lindy and Erin are also hosting The Rebuild Retreat, a 4-day in-person retreat for women navigating divorce, happening October 16 through 19 at Freebird Valley Collective in Colorado. One scholarship is available covering $1,500 of the retreat experience, including workshops, guided practices, group coaching, and healing sessions offered pro bono by Lindy and Erin. The scholarship recipient is responsible for $1,500 in room and board.
