Navan Buses | September 2023

A video showing buses in Navan (County Meath), recorded in September 2023. This is a return visit to Navan, with the previous one being in September 2022 (   • Navan Buses | September 2022  ). There have been a few changes to the Navan bus network there since then. In October 2022, every second departure on route 190 was extended to Athlone, providing new connections from Drogheda, Navan and Trim to Mullingar and Athlone. This extension also means VB buses based in Athlone now pass through Navan on their way to/from Drogheda. In January 2023, new route 188 was started by Local Link. This replaced the former Local Link route from Athboy to Navan, and now runs from Athboy to Drogheda via Navan and Donore (within the local Drogheda network the 188 also replaced Bus Eireann route 163). The three Thursday-only routes from Navan also feature in this video. Traditionally these have been operated by Bus Eireann school buses, but in recent years (due to school driver retirement) two of the routes are now done by hire-in buses. Because of this, and the third bus still being a Bus Eireann school bus, none of the buses show destinations or route numbers, so some guessing has been done here to match bus to route. The descriptions in video may be wrong. Finally WM 436 appears in this video on the Navan town service. This is one of three secondhand StreetLites Bus Eireann received this year, with the other two in Carlow.
