Mission Impossible-Skid Row Homeless Encampments Los Angeles, Skid Row is a neighborhood in downtown Los Angeles that has a long history of homelessness and poverty. It was originally a working-class area, but in the 1950s and 1960s, many of the factories and businesses moved out, leaving behind a large number of vacant buildings. This led to an increase in homelessness and poverty in the area. In the 1970s, the city began to crack down on the homeless population, which led to the creation of the Skid Row area. Today, Skid Row is home to one of the largest homeless populations in the United States, and there are many organizations and programs working to help those in need in the area. Walk with me as we explore this troubled area known as skid row. Some areas are more clean while homeless are moving into other areas.
