The Sadowsky MetroExpress Modern 24-Fret takes the familiar Sadowsky approach into decidedly modern territory. Its Okoume body, roasted maple neck and roasted maple fingerboard, two Sadowsky soapbar humbucker pickups and sleek silver metallic finish make for a distinctly contemporary package. The unique features of this bass include a Sadowsky quick string release bridge, Just-A-Nut III, light open-gear Sadowsky tuners and Sadowsky's two-band onboard preamp. Lars Lehmann takes a close look at the instrument, including the passive/active switching, bass and treble boost controls, IFT fretwork, the easily adjustable truss rod and how easy it is to adjust the string height. Lars also demos the passive tones from both pickups followed by the individual bridge and neck, before moving onto the active electronics and the 40 Hz bass and 4 kHz treble ranges. Slap and pick playing with more focused neck-pickup sounds show how far the instrument can actually perform.
