How does a phone in your pocket know exactly where you are? It listens to 32 satellites orbiting 20,200 km above us. Each one broadcasts its position and the exact time, and your phone turns the signal’s travel time into distance. Four satellites solve your position and your clock error, and Einstein’s relativity keeps the whole system accurate. Without it, the error would grow by more than 11 km a day.
